Born and Bred - Stories of Holloway Road

Our Work > Heritage > Born and Bred

Born and Bred is an oral history project that focuses on the cultural heritage of Holloway Road in Islington. Through photography, illustration and oral history, Born and Bred captures the living memories of people who live or work in the area and were born and bred in London.

A team of trained volunteers will record local people's stories as well as documenting local small businesses, institutions and archives.  The project will produce a website, a short 'how to' conduct oral history interviews to be used as a teaching tool in schools, a book and an exhibition. The oral history recordings, sound files and copies of all research and photographic material will be archived at London Metropolitan Archives and Islington Archives.

This project is funded by Heritage Lottery Fund.
