Events at the Library
Since 2005 we have put on occasional events and workshops with authors and illustrators at Islington's North Library.
In 2005 Francesca Simon, author of the Horrid Henry books, came to talk to children about her writing.
Emily Ault and Carla MacKinnon ran running illustration workshops for 7-11 year-olds. Children worked from scratch to create their own illustrated masterpieces.
Local Author Natasha Narayan visited the library in 2006 to talk about her book The Paradise Plot. It tells the story of a boy called Winston who wants to run the country. Young people aged 6-12 came along to hear her talk and took part in a game to see what sort of people they think you should enlist to help if you want to change the world.
Natasha had published non fiction books in the Horrid History series before. This was her first fiction book and according to Megan Thompson (aged 8) ‘ I liked it a lot’.
Gamze Goksungun said ‘Its really interesting to hear a writer talk’.
In 2007 author Robin Price introduced characters from his Spartapuss series, which is set in Rome in AD37. Children had the chance to spin Fortune's Wheel and test their Roman knowledge in a gladiator quiz.
